Pretty damn great!
I have only been able to play bits and pieces as I’ve been quite busy but it is fantastic. I’m a little underwhelmed with the visuals as they don’t come close to the target footage we were shown by quite some way. But it plays great and the story is on it. Soldiers are still a little stupid as well but hey, that’s a staple of the MGS franchise. Its just great to have snake back and it makes you realise that Sam Fisher was always a wannabee!

Quality Game
Yes peoples... I was gonna create a thread myself but had a busy weekend. i did the London to brighton bike ride on sunday and did it in a record 4hrs 35 mins so was a bit tired afterwards.
Game
Anyway, back to the subject. I have had a chance to give MGS a good bash and I dont think ive even scracthed the surface but it has blown me away so far. I think the graphics are outstanding. I dont think it could ever live up to its hype but they look just fine. Im about half way through Act 2 and havent faced any bosses yet so cant comment on those yet. What I love about this game is all the subtle things you can do which a lot of people would miss. MGS is definitely one of those games where you only see the TRUE value of it once you have completed it and are playing through it for a second time. I am seeing more and more things you can do as snake, the more i progress and when i play it for a 2nd time these things will be invaluable. I love the way that there is different strategies for attacking different missions. The idea is stealth obviously but if you wanna stealth some and then blaze other parts its up to you. So far one of the most unique pickups is the playboy magazine. Love it!! You can leave it near soldiers and they pick it up and are distracted. brilliant.
Likewise using your MkII to run off and disable claymores, smoke bombs etc which then become part of your arsenal. Brilliant!!
Its a nice balance from playing COD as in being stealthy rather than all out rapeage!! I still need my COD fix though now and then.
Its definitely a game you need to be in the mood for as in its quite slow paced sometimes and those cut scenes...bwoy.. I like a good cutscen but they do go on. Its nowhere near as bad as reported but they do run into about 15 mins some of them. They are usually interactive though which helps and that does work quite well. I just think there are probably too many of them.
Online
I only played online briefly so I cant give a definitive account, however I have to say it did feel quite underwhelming. I dont like the fact that you cant select a specific game mode you want to play. It just randomly chucks you into a gametype. That is a stupid idea to me. Anyway it plays reasonably well but I cant see myself playing it online if im honest. The only game I can see grabbing me for online will be RFOM 2 & GOW 2. Oh and ive been destroying GRID online too but ill create another thread for that. What a game!!

mgs4
liked to join u guys on mg4 but i dont have a ps3 although i have been thinking of getting one, i borrowed a ps3 for 2 weeks & i really enjoyed watching blu rays on it, sadly the games were pants compared to my 360 & im not a MGS fan so the only reason for to get one at the moment is for blu ray wich is stunning & the sound is the bomb, watching APPLE SEED EXMACHINA on blu ray blew my mind!! So just waiting to make my mind up to get a ps3 or Panasonic DMP-BD50 Blu-ray Player http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=810

i did watch MGS4 being played, although i still cant understand why a machine this powerful is still not producing graphics beyond my 360 is confusing" but what i saw on MGS4 looked great.

Dont get me wrong, its a lovely looking game but I wanted it to melt my eyeballs out! I've still to leave the Middle East stages so maybe it will as time goes on. But my first impression was a 'little' bit disappointing. PS3 has blown me away visually with MS (great game and better than BO for mash up racing, get a cheap copy if you get a PS3) and Drakes Fortune, which has moments of jaw droppig visuals.
Blu Rays do look sick though and thats the main reason I'm so happy I have a PS3 and a 1080p screen. Upscaling doesn't come close. If you want to be utterly blown away watch Beowulf on Blu Ray. Not the greatest film in the world by a long shot but the BD transfer on it is truly next level, you can make out every scale on that sick dradon at the end! Just amazing in terms of image!!!

Re: MSG4..how goes it...
exactly thats the thing..why is'nt the game total recall eyball popping.....it looks like and probably plays like a great game but for some reason...you feel it should have been something more.
i understand some of the developers have had some issue's with using the ps3 architecture...etc...but its been over a year and a half and years before it was released....it is quite baffling.
to me it seems they rushed the thing...i'd say about a year before it was suppose to go out so just did some bosh job at the end knowing the 360 was already out and could get away from them..the washed out graphics..looks on the same level as assassins creed...yet that game looks more stunning....tell me if i'm wrong..as i said i aint seen msg4 i full to truly say..but from what i have seen it looks to be the case.
